Because of my position here at AdBayUSA I am in a good position to see the constantly changing business advertising market place.  And these days, more often than not, I see that our customers are getting into Internet Marketing and that’s a good choice.

It’s inevitable that more and more people look towards the internet as a way to build a business as more and more people read ebooks, post ads, do their shopping, conduct research, look up old friends and play games, etc.   It makes sense that people see it as a way to make extra money or to even start a full time business.

The internet has changed the marketing industry forever.  And mostly in a good way.  For instance, it’s great that the smallest mom and pop business can compete on pretty much equal footing with the much larger firms.  It’s also incredible that these mom and pop stores can now have a national reach instead of selling on a local level.  I like all of that about the internet!

But what I DON’T like about the internet is its low cost entry point and seductive, deceptive appeal to people who believe that once they purchase a program, run a few ads, mail a few post cards or put up a website that all work ends and that they will become rich.

SORRY, THAT’S NOT THE REALITY! The people who are successful in this business work very, very hard at it, every day.  They put in the same kind of time, money and effort (or more) than they would if they had a brick and mortar store, minus a lot of the heavy lifting.  Many also rely on more traditional marketing channels such as print media and direct mail to augment their online campaign.

If Internet Marketing is your method of choice then all I’m saying is you need to be realistic in your expectations, and understand that – like any marketing method, you’ll need to put in the work, time and money if you want to see the rewards.  Like any business venture you pursue you might work for months or in some cases even years before you see the financial rewards of all your efforts.  You must be willing to pay this price to obtain your goals.  If your not willing to do this, then being in business is probably not for you.

I am not trying to scare you off from starting your own business….  All I am saying is there is a price to pay for any type of success….  If your willing to pay that price the benefits of all that effort can be more than worthwhile…. After all look what happened to Thomas Edison!
